O'MALLEY
Sharon was born in 1957, Sharon O'Malley is an Hons. B.A. Fine Art graduate of the University College of Ulster. As a professional artist she has participated, since 1981, in over 40 exhibitions including her 5 critically acclaimed solo shows: 'Ancient Presence' 1992, 'Oracle' 1993, 'Odyssey' 1995, 'Legacy 1996 and 'Anatomy of the Ancient' in 1998 and 'Threads', the headliner Galway Arts Festival Show of 2004. She also executed two Galway Arts Festival posters, 2000 and 2001 Her work has been exhibited in many reputable galleries including the Royal Hibernian Academy, the European Modern Art Gallery, the Temple Bar, Project and Hallward Galleries, Dublin and the Galway Arts Centre Gallery and was invited artist to the International Eigse exhibition in Carlow. Her paintings have also toured to the U.K., France, and U.S.A. and she .participated in the Florence Biennale 2000. Her next exhibition will be held in the Galway Norman Villa Galleries in November, 2007. The artist's work has been acquired by the Arts Council of Ireland, the Office of Public Works, numerous other public bodies and Municipal collections and also by private collectors in Ireland and abroad including those of art critic, Bruce Arnold and the late John Hunt. O'Malley continues to plumb the rich, infinite source material of mythology offering insights into cultures, past and present, focusing on the inherent Human Condition and concerns which continue to resonate today. Themes and motifs recur and echo each other between the worlds of West and East, Pagan and Religious, Old and New. Brian Fallon, art critic, described the artist "as a genuine original with and imagination and imagery of her own".
